Step son passed out during gym class?!

Question: My husband just called to tell me that my step son's mom called him to say that my step son passed out during gym class and when he came to started vomiting blood. She is taking him to the ER as we speak, but in the mean time I'm hoping for the best and thinking the worst. Is it possible that it could be simply from over exertion? He just started running track too, and has never had a problem. As luck would have it, I just had an accident where I passed out. When I came to I was vomiting, went to the ER and had a CT scan done and I was OK. So it's not the vomiting I"m worried about so much as the blood part. He's 13. Any reassurance would be great. Thanks.

vomiting blood is never a good sign, and it could be from any number of different disorders. He is going to the right place to deal with it tho, so just be patient and wait to find out what is going on. Don't jump to conclusions.

Sounds like that there is an underlying problem. If your son is already active in sports then gym class should be no problem for him. Best wishes.
