Creaking & painful knee?!

Question: I've noticed for some time now that my knee hurts when I use it strenuously (like lunges, etc.) It creaks A LOT...definitely more than the normal knee creaking sounds. I take daily walks, which doesn't hurt my knee, but anything more strenuous would definitely aggrivate it.

So, my first question is :what's wrong with my knee?
My second question is: what can I do about it?

Most likely you are suffering from patellofemoral pain syndrome, which is a knee cap that is tracking improperly and irritating tissue in your knee. The best thing for you to do is to see an orthopedic doctor to have the knee examined and then go through physical therapy to strengthen the muscles in your hips and thighs.

Could just be part of growing up, and the bones growing too fast, for the muscles to keep up. Could be ACL injury. At the moment it just sounds like part of growing up I had that for a few years when I was in my younger years and skiing. I went to many doctor appointments which did not solve anything. I did however start going to physio, which has now helped my knee incredibly in the long run. It will help speed the growth of the muscle to catch up with the bone. If it is getting worse go to physio not a doctor physio therapists know more about knees then a doctor would.
