I am a 50 yr. old veteran, slightly disabled (painful back and neck) , and lonel!

Question: My question is, since I am very new to PC and Internet and since the medications that I take make me a little foggy, I have a hard time remembering things and learning new things. I am lonely and would like just a few friends to write to because I am lonely. What is the best way to meet new people on-line? I visit My Space, You Tube, and other similar sites but, I don't know how to introduce myself. Any suggestions?

I do not think you tube or my space are necessarily the
sites for people of your background. They tend to be for the younger element. In Yahoo Answers you are in fact communicating with people all over the world . So if you go through the questions and answers in categories that you find personally interesting you can always ask any YA member who seems like you if you can be a "fan"through the profile page of that person, or e mail him or her.

Once you have got into communicating you can always ask for their e mail address and phone number and give yours to them. You may well find some who will be happy to keep in touch with you direct and chat about things of mutual interest Many might not have the time or interest in you but some will.

There are also other such sites you can also join who are perhaps more into individual personalised communication than Yahoo. For example you might find Lycos IQ more your thing than Yahoo. Give them a try too.

The golden rule is to be yourself. Tell your new friends where you're from, what do you do for a living, your interests(this is very important in order to get your 'click'), etc..

There are so many sites that you can go to in order to make new friends. I personally prefer Friendster, Badoo and Yamky..

Slightly disabled, painful back and neck, could this be Arthritis? If so their are many Arthritis Support Groups on line at Yahoo Health and we have friendship and fun, so check them out. Join and introduce yourself, 'I am X and I live in X and I have X, I was just wondering if anyone has any idea of how I can help my painful back, neck, what drugs, treatments.........' and you will get to know many people! It is a simple as that! Best of Luck
