Can crossing you legs cause your hip ache???????!


Question: My hips have been aching for yrs now....Im only 17!!

Ive been involved with dance and volleyball but nothing currently.

They dont hurt very often but when they do its a sharp pain in my right hip.

WHAT COULD IT BE?

help pls.

Yes it can. Sitting with legs crossed can also induce blood clot! Much depends on how you sit, if you are stretching the muscles, ligaments, tendons beyond where they are supposed to go. If so then you are weakening those muscles, ligaments, tendons and they will not be able to hold the hip in the correct place! Dance can place strain on the muscles, tendons, ligaments and again you are more flexible when young, but as you age, you loose that flexibility. Therefore do not sit with legs crossed and see what happens. Best of Luck

No. But it could be arthritis. It is possible to get arthritis at a very early age. Talk to your Dr. and get a referral to an orthopedist.
