Ulnar Nerve Test?!

Question: I have a pinched nerve in my left elbow (my ulnar) which is causing numbness in my left pinky finger and the left half of my left hand. The orhto. doc told me I needed to have a nerve test done. He also said it will hurt a little bit. Anybody know what they do to test this nerve or what they do that hurts?

during this test, the doc places very tiny needles that elicit pain...it is very useful in locating where the nerve is impinged (pinched)...Either way, if you can get through it, it is very useful...the name of the test I'm referring to is an EMG/NCS...google it.
