Are EMGs painful?!

Question: I have something wrong with my back and my doctor wants to test for a pinched nerve. I was originally supposed to get an MRI but i have an implant in my ear from previous surgeries, so he scheduled me for an EMG. I have a really bad phobia with needles, and i know that the procedure involves several needles. So anyone that has ever had an EMG, can you tell me, is it painful????????????

It's uncomfortable. It is a little painful, but not anything like I thought it would be. I didn't feel a needle, mainly pressure and like the feeling you get with the electrical thing that a chiropractor uses. It's not pleasant, but you can handle it. If I can anyone can. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain and I didn't care very much for the doctors bed-side manner that did mine. but that's beside the point.
The main thing is to try to relax your muscles and it's better.
hope you do well...good luck.

EMGs are a brand of electric guitar pickups. They can be very painful when Dave Mustaine shreds your face off using them. LOL!

LOL at Peanut's Pal. OMG.
