Some of the suggestions are good, but I'd suggest staying away from the drugs, including the crazy pain meds (side effects), and try stretching, physical therapy and massage. Also consider your diet. Red meat, for instance, might increase your problem (it makes my arthritis flare), and even a reaction to shell fish could be a problem.

Try a poultry only diet, and eat lots of veggies and fruit. It helps me.

There are 3 things that come to mind, chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy. I have had all of these for various things through the years. Different things work for different people, but perhaps one of these can help you. Best of luck.

i also have chronic lower back pain...some things ive done that have helped are light strength training (like using stretching, yoga, anything to keep flexiblity which is extremely important). Deep tissue massages or any kind of massage can relieve many pains (i wasnt always a believer until i tried it!!) hot stone massage....taking naproxen and chondroiton pills...they help with the inflammation.

I also have severe arthritis. It is throughout all my joints, back and neck. The pain got so severe I could hardly walk or even move.

I tried exercise, physical therapy, and diet. Nothing worked. I finaly went to my doctor and received a prescription for Arthrotec. It is expensive but it works. I can enjoy my days, not completely pain free, but reasonably comfortable.

I see a pain management physician, and have used many different things, from physical therapy to corticosteroid injections. I hate to say it, but my pain meds work the best. I have had good luck with the injections; they just don't last as long as I would like. I also had pretty great results using a TENS unit. Check with your doctor about these, or any other remedies offered. You don't want to hurt yourself!
