Can you hurt your body drinking pancake syrup?!

Question: My 16 year old drank 1 regular family bottle of syrup, not the large economy size. He vomited, the school called, I picked him up, and he went to bed for about 6 hours. One of his friends came over and inadvertantly snitched on him... My question is this; Now that he is walking around again, should I worry? Other than about the stupidity of drinking the syrup I mean... He is eating carrots and said he doesn't want anything sweet...

Come on rabbit, didn't your mama teach you to chug? You're never gonna win with those thin little bird lips.

Ah, the fun times of competitive syrup chugging...
Your son will be fine, his insulin levels would have been a bit wonky at the time but no permanent damage.

That is gross. You can always call your doctor.

What was your 16 yr old thinking?

Syrup is pretty sweet. If I just drank a bottle of syrup I wouldn't want anything sweet for a loooong time.
I don't think you should worry. He already threw up all that stuff out. It's outta his system. If he doesn't throw up the carrots, he's fine.

You can hurt your body having syrup over and over. It's not good for your healt because it has sugar and it makes you gain weight and give you high sugar.

Vomiting probably got most of it out of his system so I wouldn't worry. (I have 4 adult sons, and they've done goofier things than that.) Since he doesn't want anything sweet, it sounds like he learned a very good lesson about ingesting too much sweetener at once. He is young, healthy, and if he isn't diabetic, he will be fine and wiser for the experience. As for your own peace of mind: if you can't calm your worries, call your doctor or poison control.

Maybe it'll give him a cavity or two, but nothing major. If he vomited that is normal. Give him lot'sa water. It'll help him get the rest out. Make sure he brushes his teeth tonight!
