Burnt hand..please help..I'm in agony!?!

Question: About 3 hours ago i burnt my hand with steam from the kettle. I was pouring boiling water into a pan and the lid(which is on the top) fell off and my hand was rite above it holding the handle.
Since then ive put ice on it...for like 5mins then it feels better then gets really sore again so i put more ice on.
There isnt that much of a mark part from its red and a couple of raised white bits-about 2 cm each burnt finger(which i cant feel...i could probs out a needle in them and not feel it).
The 3 fingers i burnt are agony rite now...i can hardly type this. The pain is making me feel a little sick its so bad. They just feel so hot and sore.
Anyone got any advice on what to do with a burn like this to make it feel better?

Ice water bowl, dip hand for 10 mins. rest for 5 mins. dip again. After the worst of the pain is gone, put some burn cream on it. It might help to put lidocaine (or any -caine) on it for the pain.

You have blisters. Don't pop them, they'll work out on their own. It will hurt for several days. Your feeling sick is your body telling you that you are really hurt and that it sustained a rough injury. It will go away.

Steam burns more than dipping your hand in boiling water.
Steam carries about 800 cal/gram (not food calories). Ouch!

Neosporin, being oil based, will serve to further cook your hand. It's like putting butter on a sunburn.

Just a cold compress.
Sometimes I'll put neosporin on my burns as well. Feel better.

When I burned my thumb I filled a bowl with cold water and just held my hand in it... it is much more efficent then ice because it cools a lot faster and the pain becomes better. And don't pick at your hand... feel better

Get a bowl of water and drop some ice in the bowl. Put your fingers in the bowl and leave them there for about 30 minutes. That should take the sting out. Good luck, I know that hurts!

if u have a first aid kit there should be something in there for burns if not just keep ice on it

Try sticking your hand in a bucket of cold water. It'll sting for a few hours. Put aloe on it if you have it, and take some ibuprofin to keep down the swelling and take the bite off the pain. Really, the cold water feels wonderful. A few chunks of skin might fall off (gross, I know) and in a few days, you'll certainly peel. Keep it well-moisturized at that point and don't pull the skin off before it's ready to avoid some scarring.

edit: I'm sorry, I know how much that hurts. Try touching the underside of your forearm to a 400 degree sheet pan.

try taking some advil or aleve if you have it for pain and swelling. take it as directed for the next day or so to help with the pain and do what others wrote...ice water and such
