Should you treat bad back with a hotwater bottle or cold pack?!

Question: It depends on the problem. Ice packs prevent swelling. They don't do much else. They will not help a bad back unless your injury results in swelling...like if you were hit in the back with an object.

Heat will help some. It will get the blood moving and soothe you. It's a way to dilude feelings of pain and replace them with feelings of another sort, warmth. Also, being submerged in heat helps your body get rid of toxins.

Bad backs are common and complicated. Heat and ice will do little to help a back that is chronically "bad." Exercise, strengthening the abs, and stretching (with good form) are all good ways to keep your back healthy. Also, staying hydrated and drinking lots and lots of water will do wonders for the back (and the rest of the body as well.)

my Doc says heat

both.
you can get those hot/cold packs at stores..
like walmart or drugstore..

if just grabbin something at home..
first start of w/ a hotwater bottle on your back.
and keep it on there for awhile..
then put the cold pack on it.
C:

hotpack

Neither of those things work..
Those are psychological so if you want to feel better then go head and use them

they don't do anything tho.

sorry,,

Dev

its really better to rotate heat and ice. it will give you more relief.

Actually, hot/cold packs DO do something. I have a bad back, also. Either cold or hot can be used. My physical therapist recommended either. I like heat, because when I apply a cold pack, I cringe against the cold, and it makes my muscles lock up worse. Heat, in my opinion, relaxes better.

i would use a hotwater bottle then go to see a doctor about it could be cause by mental and emotional stress, trauma are viral infections
