Shin bruise?!

Question: Yesterday, I was at the skating rink with a group of my friends. The rink wasn't too full, so we got into a game of playing tag. I skated up behind my friend, and grabbed her shoulders, not harshly, but just firmly, and "tagged" her. But she got spooked from me coming up behind her, and she lost balance. Her foot shot out backwards, and the brake on the end of the wheels of the skates slammed into my shin. After getting hobbling off of the rink, I went to the bathroom and took a look at my leg, which was red and obviously swollen. I limped around for the rest of the night, stayed off the skates, and iced my shin.

It isn't as bad now. I can walk normally, but pain shoots up and down my leg when I do. The brake on the skate scraped just the very top layer of my skin off, and around the area it did, my leg is red. Then around the red section, there's a blackish-blue bruise. It's still swollen today, but not as much as yesterday. Is there anything else I can do to help with the pain?

Sounds like you bruised it pretty good but it doesnt need a doctor immediatley. Keep putting ice on it and take ibueprofen.....it will help with pain and swelling.

adcil, tylenol or the like may be helpfull for the pain. you did good by icing it right away. you can do ice for a couple days...then just wait for it to heal.

try elevating the leg-well like putting two+ pillows under legs 2 get blood flowing away from leg, swelling's caused by blood gathering at the injury, yeah i get these alot due to martial arts, n keep using that ice pack n try not using the leg too much, after like a couple days to a week if it doesnt stop swelling, going 2 a doc would be good
