Firstly pick a decent studio ask to see the room and just check that all looks clean. When you get it done you fee should include a check up in two weeks and the smaller bar that they will put in all being well. You should not have to pay for the follow up!!
When you go they will check that you are able to have it done quite simple by shining a very bright light under you tongue and inspecting it.
When it comes to the piercing make sure you witness the piercer wash hands and put gloves on all equipment should be new and sealed prior to opening to pierce you. They will numb your tongue and clamp it and using a dye mark out the dots. This can be tricky and may have to be done a few times. The piercing is painless all i felt was a small "pop" as the pushed it out the top of my tongue - there should be minimal blood if any.... Just after thanksto them numbing you will drool which is not so attractive as you have to leave.
Yes you tongue will swell but not too bad just have soups and bread for first two days but after that the main issue is ajusting to the tongue bar.
*Do not play with your bar whilst healing as tempting as it!
*Buy a new toothbrush from the day of your piercing!
*Use a good mouth wash but dilute it!
*Salty warm water too but do not over wash you piercing as you will remove the bacteria that helps you mout heal and you tongue may turn a funny colour!
Upon two week you have to go back to the studio as by now the bar in you tongue is a pain in the **** as its too big due to the swelling going down. At the studio they will check the piecing and replace the bar with one that fits and then you are all done. As long as you have good oral hygiene anyway you should not have any problems and if the bar fit you should find no issues with damage to you teeth!! I dont advise taking medication prior to the piercing especially not ones that might stop you blood clotting aswell like asprin etc...
Good Luck x

i dont have it, but i know alot of people that do, and they said it dosent hurt.

my friend has one and she takes if off b4 skool cause it burnes when she eats but she got it pierced just last week and she says that its getting better

eyeah it kills like heck!! don't get it!! it makes ur tongue infected! gross! lol just to let u kno i've never gotten my tongue pierced or my nose! sorry!

I have a teacher who has a tounge ring, she says to take teyonal before. It might take time to get used to talking with it in. I don't know how bad it willl hurt. But if it hurts when you bite your tounge than it will probably hurt if you gat it peirced.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i don't know, but my aunt had that done before. she didn't sound that different. but she didn't like it in there so she got it taked out. my sister had her chin pierced and her nose too. she got rid of the chin piercing. it might hurt for a while possibly, just think of it as your nose i guess, if that didn't hurt, then getiing your tongue pierced might not hurt. Btw: i want to do that when i get older, like get my nose pierced!!! so kool

Good Luck on this!!!

Your mom is stupid. Why would she let you get your tongue pierced?Do you know what people wll think of you socially and in the work place? They will think you put out more and you would do anything for a job.

Yes, it is really painful! Think about how sensitive your tounge is, and it is the strongest muscle in your body.

The mouth is the dirtiest part of the body, and you will get an infection!

If your mom cares, she will back down! Or maybe she just wants you to make this mistake- there is a reason this is a fad that went out of style about 4 years ago.

it is not a harmful thing but it may affect your taste sensation. it is better to not do this. I saw some very famous prostitutes done this to them. it is not a sign of a nobel women. rest is depends upon yours.

It is not a good idea to get you tongue pierced...

The majority of the dental establishment as
well as the medical profession said that this
so-called fad of tongue piercing is not a
really good health wise.

It will probably lead to mouth infections in
the future.
The medical profession has mention people
that have gotten recent tongue piercings have been
done by unsafe/questionable places which has
infections as well as damaged to nerves on
the tongue.

My advice don't do it.

i hope it doesn't hurt because i never tried it in my life ever!!

It all depends. I've had friends who it didn't hurt at all. As for me, it hurt so incredibly much but that's because the lady who pierced my tongue said it was pretty thick. I would just recommend that you eat a lot of ice-cream and follow the instructions the piercer gives you. It'll be pretty swollen so try soups, puddings, yogurts, etc. And go ahead and get it, you're young and it's a form of expressing yourself!
