Ankle pain... no specific injury...help?!

Question: i injured my left knee just about 4 weeks ago ang have been in an immobolizer and using crutches since... i am now WBAT so am using the crutches less... but have recently noticed that my right ankle is painful when turned in and there is also slight swelling on the outside(kind of a swelling "knot")...
I am also having some discomfort while going down stairs...

is there anything that i can do to help with my ankle discomfort and swelling...I really cant stay off it since i cant put too much weight on my left leg because of my knee injury, so the only thing that i can think of to do (and have been doing) is elevating at night and icing...

any suggestions on what i can do to prevent further damage...

also, my right knee has been feeling "funny" as well... it cracks when climbing stairs and sometimes makes a ginding noise(but no pain)

thanks

u may want to try wrapping ur ankle while ur weight bearing so that u dont injure it further(may be a slight sprain)... continue with the ice and elevating...

as far as the other knee... may just be overuse but not 100% sure...

continue to Rest and be extra carful so that u dont hurt ur "good" leg

I recently had a knee reconstruction myself and was on crutches for quite some time. Its reasonably normal that your experiencing discomfort in other ares simply due to the fact that your walking differently and most likely increasing the pressure you put on your other leg. Pretty much continue what your doing, strap it, ice it, elevate it. Pretty much all you can do with your left leg, but if it gets any worse seeing a physio might be a good idea.
