Is it normal for a broken bone to ache alot while healing?!
Question: I have been using a "walking cast" for a stress fracture in my foot and though I have felt much improvement overall, it has been aching alot the last couple days. Is this part of the healing or is something wrong?

Stress fractures can be very very painful Your doctors probably reccomended a walking cast because weight bearing can help speed the healing process by enhancing bone formation; this is the reason that weight bearing exercise is reccomended for women of all ages, to prevent osteoporotic fractures in the future. Be glad that you didn't have a different type of fracture that would require even more healing time. And think of the aches in the area as you osteoblasts working overtime to heal you. Take any NSAID or other pain medication as perscribed by the doctor to prevent GI distress and other complications.
Yes. And, unfortunately, it may continue to hurt off and on for the rest of your life especially when you get older.
Forget a walking cast get crutches, they'll help you more in the long run
