Did I break my toe?!

Question: Last week Saturday I stubbed my toe into a wooden chair in the bedroom at night. I've never stubbed a toe this bad before. It still hurts a week later and I'm wondering if I broke it. There was light bruising but nothing major, it was swollen for a day or two but it's gone now, and I can still bend it. It's the toe next to the big toe, and I'm wondering if it's not broken that it may be fractured. If I can bend it does it definitely mean I didn't break it? Would just like some thoughts or personal experiences from others before I make a doctor appt. I don't really want to go if I don't have to.

I can't tell you it's definitely not broken, but it doesn't sound like it is. I stubbed one of my pinky toes a few months ago and like you I didn't want to go to a doctor. For the first couple of days it was swollen and bruised and hurt to wear shoes. After a day or two the swelling was gone, it was still a little bruised but not bad. After 2 or 3 weeks it was back to normal. I would wait a little longer to see if it starts to feel better. Also, typically I don't think there is anything a doctor can for a broken toe expect give you pain meds if it really hurts.

You prob. just sprained it. I fractured my little pinky on my hand and it was swollen and about 7months later i still have pain in it and its hard to bend the way i used to. So i'm going to say negitive ghost rider. Be thankful its not fractured or broken! the pain sucks!!
The bruising means that it was healing, so thats a positive sign!
good luck hope it feels better :)

well if it still hurts and there is light bruising and it still hurts, then it is probably a sprain. if u can still bend it, then it probably isnt a break. im not a doctor so i really recommend you go and c a doctor. i dont want to give u the wrong advice and u later have to have an operation because you didn't take care of it properly. call that doctor. if it is a sprain. then the doctor will probably give you a splint. good luck =]

broke or not it doesnt mater the doctor is going to tell you that you need to take it easy on it and stay of you feet as much as possible. That unless it is sticking through the skin there is nothing they can do for it.now for this advise im only going to charge you $50.00 instead of $200.00 at the doctors lol

it depends on where the injury is if you cna bend it or not-

I always treated my broken toes (about 8-10) myself-

tape to its neighbor and where shoes--
