Would it be dumb (sprained ankle)?!

Question: Last Friday I sprained my ankle at soccer practice. It made a popping noise and I couldn't walk on it for about 5 minutes. Then it literally felt better, so I kept playing. Stupid me. I went to the doctor the following day because my ankle was very swollen and it hurt to walk on it. We took X-Rays, and it was a first degree sprain (if that is the least serious one). By Monday, I lost my limp almost entirely. I haven't played soccer since I sprained it, and had to miss one game already. I have a game tomorrow, and my ankle is still a wee bit swollen, and hurts a very little amount...very little. Would it be dumb to play in tomorrows game? I really want to, as it is very depressing standing on the sideline. If I have to I will be a man about it and wait out the game.

i think if you really want to play then you can. but you need to think about the chance or reinjuring it. if you reinjure it then you could be out for who knows, weeks months, years. you need to think about that before you make this decision. your ankles weak right now. i think it'd be smarter to miss one more game, than miss a few weeks, if not a few months. i doubt anything will happen if you do play in your game tomorrow. & lets hope that if you make that choice, you'll be alright.

but just think about what could happen.
i'd sit out for one more game.
your team will understand

id sit out tomorrows game if I were you. If you do decide to play, wrap up your ankle good (or have the coach/trainer do it). To help strengthen your ankle, move your ankle to the lettes of the alphabet, it will help circulate blood flow and regain strength.

it would be VERY stupid. if it is swollen still, then rest ur ankle, put ice on it 20-30 minutes, three times a day. put an ace bandage on your ankle. not too tight though. go to walgreens or any drugstore and get some crutches for a 2-3 days. just to stay off it to let it heal. it will eventually get better. good luck =]

well think of this it only hurts a little now but it STILL HURTS.if you use it before it heals you can do more damage and then your out for more than one or 2 games your out the rest of the season.so stay out a game or 2 and come back when its ready not you.
