Infected toenail?!
Question: Okay I had a question now my toenail is infected cause i cut my nail to short one one side. Im 6 months pregnant as well. Earlier this week it was hurting, redder, and plain ole gross. I wont go into details. But today and yesterday its gotten wayyy better BUT its itching which I know means its healing, AND puss and its just a tiny red and puffy just a lil. I go to the doctor on the 25th of this month so Im gonna ask him about it but till then Ive been putting neosporin, peroxide and a bandaide on it. Its getting much better. So..
Will it heal on its own?
Does it itching even tho theres puss mean its healing?

wrap your toe with gauze, after you put on neosporin, just enough wrap so the nail is covered... wear shoes that are comfortable NOT TIGHT put that foot up when ever possible ... soak it at night before bed with Epsom salt in warm not hot water cover foot with water and add 1 tablespoon soak 5 to 10 min then pat dry leave uncovered at night
I had this same problem and mine started pussing and it wasnt getting better. i ended up having to go to the doctor and getting medicine but yours could get better on its own. i really dont know. i think that if it gets any worse, you should go to the doctors but otherwise, it should be fine.
Sounds like you have done all of the right things. The itching that you describe is a sign that it is in fact healing. It pretty much will have to heal on its own. You will have to wait for it to grow back out.
Is the puss in the corners? It will heal on its own. If you want, and I have b4, snip a small 'V' into the center of the toenail. This will cause the nail to grow inwards from the sides. Also, run your toe under hot water from the tub. Hot as you can take. FYI--those were my doctor's orders.
try squeezing it really hard and oftenm, and put it in really hot water
Only a doctor has the authority to answer your questions about your infected toe nail. No the foot won't have to be amputated!!!!
it sounds like everything is right EXCEPT you are putting peroxide on an infected deep wound!!!! It says right on the bottle to not put peroxide on a deep wound and its for external use only. You're only supposed to put it on to prevent infections, but when its a huge infection it just makes it worst!! Trust me I went through the same thing twice and if you keep using peroxide your outer flesh actually forms into a whitish color. Eventually your toenail falls off, and it grows back in a jagged shape.
Continue the peroxide and neosporin...Until you see your dr...But,from now on,just file your nails with an emery board,like you would your fingers...And,this should prevent any recurrence of this...
