Hand swelling?!

Question: My brother and I were lugging sappy tree branches because our tree fell down. We didn't want sap on our hands so we put some holey rubber gloves on to prevent the sap. After we were done the job for the day my brother took off his gloves and found ONE of his hands had swelled quite a bit. We guessed it was the glove obviously but my mom tried olive oil and vinegar and it's still swelled, do u have ANY suggestions
or what u think caused this .. any thing will be appreciated!

It could be an allergic reaction, and unsuspected sting, or overuse of the hand. Keep it clean and soak in hot water and alternate with cold water. Do this 4 or 5 times a day. Should go away in a few days. If not see the doctor. check for small puncture wounds or red spot(s) for a bite.

Actually it is rather unlikely to be due to the glove. If he was allergic to the glove or something then both of his hands would have been involved. An insect bite is probably more likely unless there was a possibility of contact with poison ivy/oak/sumac. Either way the best treatment is cold compresses, diphenhydramine (e.g. Benadryl) and hydrocortisone cream (e.g. Cortaid). Obviously, if it doesn't resolve see a doctor because the stinger or whatever might still be in there some place.
