SOCCER PLAYERS! Why do I always get headaches after a soccer game?!

Question: I play for a club soccer team, and I can always expect a headache after playing in a game. Yes, I do a lot of headers during the game, but I never remember any specific header hurting. Today we played in 90+ weather, and I felt dehydrated and started shivering when I was playing. The shivering symptom is normal for me though; I got that a lot when I play in heat. I happened to do a lot of headers today, but I was fine during the game, and don't remember any specific header hurting me.

After the game my headache starts when I drive in the car, but usually after I shower and get somethign to eat it goes away. This time when I got home, I showered, but the pain didn't go away. It actually got worse. I have had a headache for 3 hours now. Right now the pain is in my forehead and above my eyes, but it travels to the back of my skull to.
I don't think it's a concussion, because my eyes pupils are the same size.

Any ideas about what it could be?
Or suggestions on what to do?

You are know doubt dehydrated. Gatorade supplies needed electrolytes and salts that water cannot. If you're shivering then you were on the verge of something very dangerous=heat exhaustion...even worse, heat stroke. Heat stroke will kill you. If you ever feel that again, GET OFF THE FIELD!! Stay cool and drinks lots of water. Bananas and orange slices are refreshing and supply nutrients like potassium and vitamin C. Pay attention to see if you're sweating. If you're not sweating then you are not nearly drinking enough fluids. I played soccer throughout my school years and once had the symptoms you have. i am know an EMT and can truly say that you need fluids and vitamins. Sugars are good, BUT ONLY from fruits. And they taste good during a game. If you had a concussion, then you most likely would also be feeling dizzy, tired and nauseated. Do you have those symptoms too?

I would drink more water or sports drinks to keep you really hydrated. Being dehydrated is a definite cause of bad headaches.

The pain you describe sounds like a tension headache. Do you ever get a sore neck? You may be jolting your neck when you head the ball.

Perhaps go to a chiropractor or physiotherapist and get them to check you over and make sure there isnt anything showing up to them that may cause your headaches.

Ice packs can help soothe the headache your describe.

Hope this helps :-)

Shivering on a soccer pitch on a 90+ degree day is anything but normal.? It could be something as mild as dehydration or a simple blood disorder, or as serious as something like the onset of a heat stroke. I assume it is not the flu or a cold simply because of the frequency.Headers have ZERO to do with any of this, unless the soccer ball you are using is a rock and not an actual official game ball like a Mitre.
Why on earth any soccer coach would leave you in a game in such a condition is unbeknown to me. You need a trusted physician to take some blood tests and heart stress tests to see if this condition can be duplicated on a tread mill. If it can, chances are it will be diagnosed and corrected.
It's probably nothing serious at all, yet catch it now just in case so it does not have the potential to jeopardize your overall health or well-being.
Good luck to you, and I am confident you will get this condition under control..
