How long will it take for my black eye to go away?!
Question: I got hit in the face with a softball this weekend, so hard that I blacked out and woke up on the ground, no memory of getting there. I have the stitches of the ball on my cheek, but a HUGE black eye.
I don't mind, it's a battle scar, but my coach won't let me play with it because I didn't go to the doctor for xrays and bones might be broken.
But about how long will this thing last, I can't stay outta the game so long!

Depending on your normal rate of bruising to go away it could be from 7 to 12 days to be gone. of course the larger and darker it is the longer it will take. You say it is HUGE; it could take 2 weeks or longer.
You really do need to go to the doctor and have it x-rayed to see if there are broken fragments that could work loose and puncture the eye ball. The cost of an x-ray is cheap compared to the cost of loosing an eye! Your coach is right in wanting you to get it x-rayed and he should not allow you to play until you bring him a report stating you are alright; he is only concerned about your safety. Baseball is only a game; your health and sight are far more important and long lasting!
If u dont wanna stay out of the game for so long then go to the Doc and get xrays taken... and that way if there is no fracture u will be allowed to return much faster...
u should go get checked out anyway since u were knocked out by the hit... u may have some facial fractures or even a concussion...
its best to find out what damage u have done so that u can heal correctly and get back to playing sooner...
i know how much it sucks not being able to play and finish a season competitive cheerleading(im out for the remainder of this season and possibly next with a knee injury...I tried to finish the season but my knee gave out again and i tried to play on but coach said NO WAY and im kindof glad that she did cause i have to have surgery)
go and get it check out the sooner the better
