I glow inthe dark naturally (LOL) so I have a lot of experience in this! I love Solarcaine. Works really well. I have used aloe vera a lot and I have never had it make me peel any more than you already will with a bad burn!

aloe vera gel has alcohol in it which dries your skin and makes you peel...ok don't laugh, it's an old time remedy...vinegar, it really smells but if you put it all over your burn it'll pull the heat out and look better by morning then shower it off and use some good lotion to keep your skin from drying..

I really don't think thats true. i ALWAYS use aloe vera and it works wonders.

aloe vera is good for any burns and you will peel no matter what you use. I really got burned last year so bad that I had blisters on my back. uuuggghhhh I still hate to think about it. aloe helped but to be honest I had to let my skin heal slowly because I was burned so bad. I used aloe and it did help but like I said at the time I was beyond help. next time don't forget you sunblock. Oh and don't forget that sunblock goes bad after a year. So if you have a bottle of sunblock at home from last year just throw it away and buy a new one. Or you might as well put oil on your skin because it will have the same results.

[edit] Treatment
There is no immediate cure for sunburns, but the pain can be relieved by hydrating the skin. This is done by applying products containing aloe, vitamin E, or both.[29] Vinegar is a remedy for the stinging sensation on a burn and any products with lidocaine can prevent healing and damage skin.[citation needed] Drinking fluids can aid in hydration, and eating high protein foods will assist tissue repair. Analgesics such as acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol or Panadol) or ibuprofen (e.g. Advil) can also reduce pain.[29] One method to treatment involves applying a clean washcloth soaked with cool milk like a cold compress, since the lactic acid will help reduce inflammation and the cool towel will soothe the pain.[30]

Blistered skin, with or without open sores, should heal on its own. As with any other open skin wound, it is best to avoid lotions or other directly applied ointments. However, antibacterial solutions and gauze can prevent skin infections.

The best treatment for most sunburns is time. Given a few weeks, they will heal.[29] Overall, the most important aspect of sunburn care is to avoid the sun while healing, and to take precautions to prevent future burns

I dont think aloe is bad, you need something to make you not itch. All for the lotions, you pick it.
I like a shower, and just as I step out go nuts with the lotion. even if it makes your sheets slimy :) They arent joking about drinking lots of water and taking some vitamins.

Skin moisturizer is the best thing. keep your skin hydrated.

You may want to try a product named BURN JEL PLUS made by WATER JEL. It has pain relieving Lidocaine HCL 2.5 % an external analgesic. It is used by doctors, the U.S. Military and EMTs around the world.

Call your local Wal-mart or other pharmacy store and ask if they have it in their store. You may also call Water Jel at the number 1-800-275-3433 and ask if they can tell you of a store near you that sells it.

If you have blistered and peeling areas of skin that look like they could become infected... You really need to see a physician.

Good Luck

Ok this sunburn smells awful and feels yucky but it works wonders. Take 1 can of canned milk and chill in the fridge while you cool the burn in a shower once you get out pour the milk into a bowl then dampen a soft cloth with it and pat onto the burnt areas and allow to dry. It will feel likeyour skin is shrinking as it dry this is the milk drawing the heat out and the lactic acid starting the healing process. Once dry shower again to removethe milk and then moisterize your skin do this every day until the burn is gone. Don't forget to take some pain reliever also to reduce pain and prevent fever.

Aloe is good for burns i know trust me.....my family is Romanian and my grandmother always used a combination of vinegar, and other cooking oils for 1 weeks at nite then showering it off in the morning but since she passed i just use store brand stuff

NO WAY TO TREAT IT. but you could make it not hurt as bad. just fill the tub with ice and get in it for about 5 minutes.

Use white vinegar: dab mix of warm water mixed with vinegar say 16 oz h20 with 1 tablespoon vinegar.... Use cotton balls then take a cool, not cold shower. while still wet moisturize with a lavender base lotion the dab off with a towel , never rub with a towel after sunburn if possible sleep on silk style material sheets top and bottom

You can use Noxema cold cream, used to clean your face ordinarily. It cools it down and moisturizes at the same time and you won't peel. Just apply a thin layer and let it soak in. Give it a shot.

It's not going to end your life. Yet. I've experienced worse.I'm not sure about your suffering.I know it is sunburn but it is nothing to crow about. When I had sunburn-on my back- it was bloody painful.I did not put anything on it. Of course it peeled off like crazy after sometime. My whole back changed in color. It was an experience. If you apply anything containing some oil it is messy. So if somebody told you not to apply aloe vera (you said aloe vera.is it the plant's stem or the sap or the whole plant?) then maybe they have experienced it - the peeling off of the sunburned skin. The burned skin will still peel off even if you apply something.Sunblocker you should have used before going under the heat of the sun.Now it is too late. All you can do is suffer. It is not much a suffering, man!!!!

Aloe is great is you can get it directly from an Aloe plant, before the alcohol and other stuff is added to it. Try taking a cool shower, then smear Noxema all over, put on a long-sleeved flannel nightgown/pajamas and have some peppermint or chamomile tea and some extra strength Tylenol and go to bed!

noxema works wonders, if its second degree you could go to md and get silvadene. make sure you drink plenty of h20 too.
