Hand Injury, should i get a second opinion?!
Question: I injured my hand on Friday falling down stairs, at the time it was painful but didn't swell/bruise. I went to casualty just to check for breaks. The xray came back fine but now it is more painful, i can't bend two figners, is very brusied and very swollen. I'm a teacher and i can't hold a pen. Do you think i should go back?

Yes, as it impacts your ability to work, you should probably get a doctor's slip confirming that - as well as a second look. Sometimes small fractures don't show up well on the first look at an x-ray (a wet reading?).
on the other hand, it might be just the swelling, but if you feel the need to add more work to our already over worked nurses the go gat a second opinion
i would just to make sure, it could just be the bruise coming out. But if it puts your mind a rest i would go back.
Take care x
Give it 3 or 4 days and then go back, it's probably a sprain, which will swell and will be painful. If its stopping you working get a sick note from your GP
