I'm afraid of this habit. It makes me more lethargic?!

Question: In depression, I sleep all day instead of night time?

One day I managed NOT to sleep so maybe at night I could fall asleep. But I couldnt sleep at night again!!! And at 6 am i fell asleep. Got up at 12:30 pm. Then again on 7 pm and now its 10:50 pm here and I just woke up......
I feel more lazy, and lethargic all the time.
What should I do?

Sleeping pills are dangerous. I would recommend trying to synchronise your circadian clock again, spend time outside in the sun, watch it rise/set, for a minumum of 30seconds per day. Also if your very tired, then sleep for an hour or two before 3pm.

If all this does not help, then take 30mg of 5HTP before bed. This is a safe supplement which is the precursor to serotonin {the feel good neurotransmitter}, at night it is converted to melatonin {a chemcial that makes you sleep}, so increasing this will help. Also stay in a dark room, no bright lights, and just relax.

I suffer from bipolar depression, so my sleep cycles are messed up, i'm a insomniac. But i found the above to work for me. Also watching TV in my room, helps me fall asleep, and forget about my worldy worries. Also try listening to slef hypnosis -relaxation CD's.

I am now cured of my depression, well 99%, by following a nutritional approach and herbs. Read 'Healing Depression and Bipolar disorder Naturally' on amazon. It seems candida overgrowth was responsible for my insomnia. I treated myself from reading books on alternative medicine, orthomolecular medicine, nutritional science' If you cant do that then contact the Brain Bio Centre located in London, and there is one is the US.

See your doctor and try sleeping pills or a natural sleeping aid.

I am like that, so I went to work on night shift, some people are just nighters.

Do NOT take sleeping pills. Excessive sleep or sleep deprivation are BOTH symptoms of depression and you seem to have other reasons to suspect it. You should see a doctor immediately and either begin counseling ( talk therapy ) or take prescription anti-depression medication or both.

Depression is dangerous if untreated, it is debilitating likewise and it is unnecessary since in almost all cases it can be treated and its effects eliminated.

Don't worry about your routine cycles, which are changed (in our language "disturbed"). It is body's clock adjustments done automatically as per our needs. It is done by mother nature. (you may call it god, Allah, bhagvan etc.). During your depression time may be your body require this new cycle. Just observe it. Don't try to change it. It will at it's own time. Like sometime we see strange climatic changes, but we cannot do anything about it. If we try to do something, it will be against law of nature (God). Same way simply observe this strange change. it too shall pass. Life is passing experience. Nothing stays forever, No things, situation or person stays same forever. Your body also keeps changing (decaying) on its own. Dint worry. Leave it to nature (god), and everything will be OK.
