What would you do if you had a support worker who didn't support you?!

Question: She never arranges meeting, then gets me to call her up to make sure she's done what she has put in her diary and basically nothing is getting done and now it is affecting my life. I've spoken to her team manager and he keeps trying to pass the buck to say the problem doesn't lie with her when it does. Help! Any ideas how to convince her team manager the solution is a new support worker?

Hi!
Had the exact problem hun!
Just say it straight, tell the manager what she is lacking, you need help, and are not getting it!
I kept silent for ages, but in the long run, only you suffer.
They get paid to help you.
If the maneger won't listen, go to your GP, Council, Advice Bureau.
Make a noise!
It's sadly all down to money! The less the support worker knows/does, the less they have to pay.
YOU ARE entitled to help hun,

Be brave.........demand it!

Good luck

Hi
I would suggest you go to the next person up, Sounds like this person is getting paid for nothing here. Its your right to have the support you are entitled to. Your not gaining anything at the moment by the sound of it, so take that next step to get what you need!!

keep a record of conversations and appointments to produce as evidence. If you have something to back yourself up they will have to listen. If you get nowhere with her immediate boss keep going higher till you get a fair go.

Find one who will. You have the right to discuss this with someone senior, go for it!!!

You need to report your concerns to a higher authority. She's obviously not doing the work she's been paid to do.

Firstly - is this a work situation or care situation?

Work - put in a grievance

Care - ask for a new support worker - you are not progressing & its not workig i'm guessing by the title they are supposed to help

either way somones short comings should not put pressure on you if you don't get joy from their immediate senior - go higher - they won't love you for it - but it won't happen again!

you can request to put a written complaint, that should get them moving
