Is there a problem with my son?!

Question: He is 4 y/o recently started school last week. Last Friday he woke up with his body extremely hot and his forehead slightly warm. (not as hot as his body). Gave him Tylenol, shortly thereafter, fever was gone. When fever was gone, he was running around, playing, etc as if nothing was wrong. Repeated process two more times that day. Saturday he was fine, no fever, nothing. Sunday Morning again he woke up with his body extremely hot and head slightly warm. Repeated the tylenol to reduce fever, again, when fever was lifted he was a normal little boy. Now since Friday, he has eaten little but has been drinking. Monday (today) woke up to no fever but woke up crying. He said his tummy hurt but when I asked him to show me where he pointed to his upper chest. He also was saying his throat hurt, but when I shine a light I see nothing out of the ordinary. His face seems a little flushed (red) today and eyes look a little purplish but could be from lack of sleep,

Sounds like he has a virus. Dont worry about it. He'll get better on his own. As long as he's eating and drinking (sounds like this has actually improved) and occassionally playing, he'll be fine. Now that he's in school, he'll get TONS of viral infections like this.

you should take him to the doctor

That doesnt sound normal. Instead of calling the doctor take him to one for a check-up. maybe he has the flu???? this year the flu shots werent made correctly.....

You need to see a different doctor, what your current doctor told you is rubbish.

tough.

pointing to his chest?

sounds like an emergency.

anytime chest pain - emergency.

don't agree with doc.

just because no fever, doesn't mean no problem.

i would take him to ER or another doc.

OMG!!!!!!!
I am going through that same thing with my son right now! He had all those same symptoms and the dr did not want to see him either. And he is 4 years old. Then this last Friday he went to school and i got a call at 12p.m saying that he went unconcious at school and the ambulance is transporting him to the nearest hospital. I so freaked i have never been so scared in my whole life. After hours of blood test it came out that his blood sugar was low and he fell into a hypoglysemic coma. and it all could have been prevented by feeding him the right foods and not just let him pick and choose what he wants to eat!

Sounds like a virus. If the tylenol is controlling the fever and he is eating, drinking, and using the bathroom normally, I would say he will be fine. If he stops eating or drinking, or the fever in not controlled, take him to the dr.

That does sound a little serious. Usually when you take medicine for a fever it shouldn't come back right away. Chest pains too, instead of going to the doctor go to the hospital. It can get worst if you don't take him.Sometimes doctors can be wrong so take him to the hospital in case. He's really young to be getting sick like this. It may be a virus or a flu. It's not flu season and he should have got his flu shot but it all depends on how the body has effect on it,and I think it's because he's young. I hope he feels better and I know how worried you are,I would too. Well good luck on that may God bless him!

Bypass the doctor and take him straight to the hospital. Make a fuss, stamp your feet, yell and scream until someone listens to you. This little boy is not well and needs immediate medical attention. This could be nothing or it could be something like Meningococcal Disease which at best could take his limbs at worst could be fatal. It has symptoms similar to the flu. The first thing you should insist on is a high dose of broad spectrum antibiotic. If it's not Meningococcal, then there's been no harm done.

It is easy to contract and can be gotten from sneezing, coughing, intimate kissing, and sharing food or drinks. Environments where people are in close contact, such as day-care centres, school camps, parties and nightclubs, make it easier for the bacteria to spread.
