Chest pains? i KNOW other people have asked but.?!

Question: I am concerned about this becuase i am only 18 years old, i don't think it could be a heart attack already, but i don't know.

for the passed... month or so i have been getting slight to extreme chest pains. it is on my left side right above my heart, it starts there then travels out through the rest of my chest and bottom of my ribs. It happens anywhere from 1 to 3 times a week. it's the worst when i go to take a breath and when i do that it feels almost paralyzing

i know this probably has somthing to do with it, but- i smoke 1 1/2 packs of cigarettes a week, cut back from smoking about 11/2 to 2 packs a day for a year.
i also take adderall. [PRESCRIBED]
i'm asking you guys because i try to avoid seeing my doctor at all costs- i know my health is important but my copays are so high and i'm tight on money

I wonder if its your medication (is it for ADHD?). Can you get free advice from the pharmacy - from the person who dishes out the medication ?

and don't forget if you are stressing it can cause the pains too!

Try taking tums... I went through all the heart tests... stress test, EKG, etc and all it was was heartburn!

chest pains are a symptom of an underlying problem
even at 18 you could have cardiac problems that are starting to develop.
You only have one heart and it wont repair itself.
I know you are tight on $$$, but get it checked out. May save you more $$$ in the long run. Not to mention may save your life

Chest pains that are worse on movement of the chest wall or breathing are probably not heart related. I'm not saying that there's nothing wrong going on. You've cut down on smoking, that's really good! Now is the time to quit it totally. Smoking really does nothing good for you healthwise, and I'm sure you know all the risks involved.
