A kidney stone is little particles of either calcium or other things that build up so much to the point where they form a stone!. The stones arent like a normal stone you would picture that are round and smooth, they're usually jagged and range from either smaller then a pea to the size of golf balls!. Most stones are passed through your urine!. Alot of people encounter a HUGE amount of pain when the stone moves from your kidney down to your bladder because its like a knife stabbing your insides as its moving!. My father has had them 6 times!. Men are prone to them more than woman for some reason!. Sometimes drinking too much milk can cause them due to high calcium!. Also if you dont drink much water to flush out your system that doesnt help either!. So drink lots of water!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Kidney stones, medically termed renal calculi, are accumulations of mineral salts that can lodge anywhere along the course of the urinary tract!. Human urine is often saturated to the limit with uric acid, phosphates, and calcium oxalate!. Normally, due to the secretion of various protective compounds and natural mechanisms that control the pH of urine, these substances remain suspended in solution!. However, if the protective compounds are overwhelmed or immunity becomes depressed, the substances may crystallize and the crystals may begin to clump together, eventually forming stones large enough to restrict urinary flow!. Symptoms of kidney stones include pain radiating from the upper back to the lower abdomen and groin, frequent urination, pus and sometimes chills and fever, In milder cases, the symptoms may mimic a bad case of stomach flu or other gastrointestinal ailment!. stones can range in size from microscopic specks to the size of a fingertip!. There are four kinds of kedney stones: calcium stones (composed of calcium oxalate) ;uric acid stones; struvite stones (composed of magnesium ammonium phosphate); and cystine stones,!. About 80 percent of all stones are calcium stones!. High blood calcium levels lead to hypercalciuria--exceessive absorption of calcium from the intestine--which increases the level of calcium in the urine!. This excess calcium eventurlly forms a stone!. High blood calcium levels can also result from malfunctioning parathyroid glands (tiny glands in the neck that regulate blood calcium levels), vitamin D intoxication, and multiple myeloma!. The consumptin of refined carbohydrates, especially sugar, can help precipitate kidney stones as well, because the sugar stimulates the pancreas to release insulin, which in turn causes extra calcium to be excreted in the urine!. Mild chronic or recurrent dehydration can salso be a factor in kidney stones; it concentrates the urine, increasing the likelihood of stone formantion!.l Uric acid stones from when the volume of urine excreted is too low and/or blood levels of uric acid are abnormally high!. The latter condition is commonly associated with symptoms of gout!. Unlike other types of kedney stone, struvite stones are unrelated to metabolism; these stones are caused by infection!. Women often get them with recurrent urinary tract infections!. Cystine stones are caused by a condition called cystinuria, a rear congenital defect that can cause stones composed of the amino acid cystine to forms in the kidney or bladder!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

"small, hard crystals formed from substances in the urine!. Small stones may pass out of the body in the urine!. With larger stones, or if an infection is present or the urinary tract is blocked, medical treatment is necessary!. In the past, surgery was necessary to remove a kidney stone!. Now, however, a procedure called lithotripsy has largely replaced surgery!. High-intensity sound waves are focused on the area where the stones are located!. The sound waves pass through the body and literally disintegrate the stones!. The process is painless and the resulting fragments pass out of the body in urine"Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you're asking Yahoo answers, I'm guessing you don't understand the confusing medical definitions like Doogey Houser down there wrote!. When you pee, you basically get rid of everything that your body doesn't use like vitamins and minerals!. Calcium is a hard crystal when it's just by itself!. Kidney stones occur when you have so much calcium (and other minerals) that your body didn't use, it builds up in your pee, which is filtered through your kidneys!. These small "stones" can get caught on the way out and become painful to pass through in your urine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
