Question: Do you stick Q-tips in your ears!?
Even though it says about 100 places on the box not to!? My girlfriend does every day, and she is always complaining about wax build up!. I keep telling her that it is a reaction to the ear canal being abrased due to the q-tips!. I have never used one on my ears, and I do not have any excess wax!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to!.!. and that squeaky clean feeling is actually quite addictive!.!.!.however I ended up with an "outer ear infection" that was in my ear canal and ended up scarring my ear drum!. It took two courses of topical and oral antibiotics to clear up and itched and burned worse than just about anything!.
The doctor suggested that when my ears were feeling plugged or dirty to let warm water run in them in the shower and use a rolled up tissue to blot out the excess water when I'm drying off!. The tissue will not be compacted enough or long enough to do any damage, but will also dry the inside of the ear pretty well!.
She can also try a few drops of rubbing alcohol in her ears after showering to dry them up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you're not supposed to put the q-tip in the ear, only around the outside!. The q-tip actually pushes the wax in tighter if you stick it in!.

I do not put them in my ears!. I clean my outer ear with them!. If she has a wax problem, she should either check with a doctor or try stopping the middle ear cleaning!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I clean my ears out with cotton swabs after every shower, I don't do it very far in and I don't do it because of excess wax!. I just like to dry the inside and get out any shampoo that may have collected!. My ears don't get wax on them from cleaning them out but everyone is different!. If you could, convince her not to clean them out and see if it helps her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes I do, but not to the point of puncturing anything!. I just recently read a news report about someone who punctured their eardrum it got infected and he died!. I'm not stupid but I do hear they are not recommended for this type of use!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Murine makes an excellent ear wax medication, over the counter!. I think you are buying generic Q-tips, which have a very, very small amount of cotton on the tips, and dangerous to use on your ears!. I use them in my makeup tray, when applying small amounts of eye makeup, but I would NEVER use them on my ears!.!.!.risk of puncturing the eardrum!.
The doctors nurse can do an ear lavage, clean out wax with a mild pressure water/peroxide combo, which works well!. Some people do have a lot of wax, some people are just obsessed with wax removal!. Only a doctor can tell if your ears are impairing you hearing!.
General ear wax/cleaning really only needs done about once a week, and again, Murin should be used if you don't want to see a doctor!.
Brand name Q-Tips are safe, if not inserted too deep!. The old wives tale about ears!.!.!."Nothing bigger than your elbow should be put in your ears,,," Hee Hee!Www@Answer-Health@Com
