i have been on methadone for three years for pain managment and now my doctor has moved and i need to find another one so if anyone knows a doctor in louisiana that writes methadone as pain mang!. please let me knowWww@Answer-Health@Com

I live in North Louisiana and it seems to me that Methadone is written often around here for pain management!.
The problem with just going to a doctor and asking for it is that you are more than likely to be profiled as someone who is drug seeking!? If you have a Very Valid paper trail of doctors info you should be able to find a pain clinic that will take you on, easily!.
I've been on it for about a year now and the laws have changed twice reguarding it already, so I don't know if it is gonna be able to be dispensed for pain much longer, but to date I am prescribed 150 10mg tablets a month (the wafers were outlawed) The prescriptions are authenticated each time I turn them in and the dates are watched closely so it pays to use the same pharmacy every time!.

Don't you love the answer, go see a drug counselor instead!. It really sucks that Heroin had to be invented and Oxycontins!. THESE things are for pain!. Your body makes this stuff, Endorphins and when in pain , it goes beyond addiction!. And just to get points answer a question stupid!?

As of January, 2008, 40MG methadone can only be dispensed through a methadone program where you go in every day and they give you your dosage and then check your mouth!. This also involves counseling and Drug testing!. This is a wonderful thing for people who need help!. You did not mention if you were looking for pain relief or for drug "detox"!. If your needing a pain med any dr!. can write for methadone in the 10 mg dosage at this point at least in my state!. My pharmacist informed me that probably within the next year or so they will be outlawing this as well !. It is my opinion that people who abuse meth don't realize that you really don't get high so they!.take more and more and then OD so the government will now only allow it to be dispersed in a controlled situation!. I say this because I believe that methadone is a good drug for chronic pain!. It is inexpensive, works well and it does not need to be increased as often as other pain meds (tolerance)!. well anyways that's the poop!. One important thing to remember though is methadone is one of the nastiest drugs to detox from!. (When you stop taken it your apt to get sick even if it is weened down) Well, with Meth your apt to get real sick!.
