Question: Is this really considered 'dr shopping'!?
So i've had the same dr for a few years!. Lately i've had a ton of pain, so I get checked by an ortho and it turns out I have very severe arthritis in my lower joints (knees, ankles)!. My dr will only prescribe NSAID's, which I can't take due to a stomach problem!. So he says "take tylenol, and learn to live with the pain!."
So I said I wanted a second opinion, because tylenol doesn't work and i'm in so much pain I can barely walk some days!. He told me that if I saw another dr, that would be dr shopping and I would get arrested for that!. So I feel stuck!. I just want my pain to be treated- i'm not an addict or anything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cripe! He sounds joyous!. Tell him to live oNE day with the apin you have!. Sorry for going off but I had to struggle for years trying to get a diagnosis for my chronic pain!. First of all!.!.!.no this is not dr!. shopping!. Thats people who scam and just want narcotics in bucket loads from dr to dr to dr to dr!.!.that's not you!. You do deserve pain relief!. The pain you feel is real and extreme!. I don't think you're just being a big baby with a simple ache or pain!. No, tylenol isn't going to help the pain you're describing!. sigh!. I can't take nsaids either really I did for years, I got no relief and they tore up my stomach!. You need to start from scratch again and find a doc who is first of all going to believe you!. It's your right as a patient to be treated adiquatly for your pain!. You could visit the ER and maybe tell them whats been going on!. They too are under a contract to help you and DEAL with your pain and managenment of it!. Maybe a specialist of some sort if a family doc wont treat you or vice versa!. I wish you all the best and you are doing nothing wrong!. You have a legetimate diagnosis that is widely known to be very painful!. I hope you get the help you deserve soon!. Although I do understand docs have to be careful as to who's lying, whos scamming!.!.but I wouldnt think it should be that hard!. I notice now most docs are more worried about their lisence then the oath they took when they became physicians!.

You're NOT going to get arrested!. I've switched Dr's myself and it would be wise for you to do so too!. Switch to a Rhuematologist for your medical condition and drop that current quack!.

Seeking another doctor's opinion is not doctor shopping!. If you have a medical condition that suppports your case, by all means seek a different medical opinion!. Rememberd doctors disgnose based on the information available to them!. Your current doctor may be misdiagnosing your condition!. You can always contact your health plan first to ask their opinion and there are referral services for most health plans also!.

Definitely get another doctor!. It is not doctor shopping when you are just looking to have your condition better managed!. You have every right to look for a physician that will treat you with respect and manage your pain correctly!. Personally I think the attitude that this doctor took with you is very unprofessional!. I dont know if its doctor shoping but i can tell your in mega pain by the way you type!. Any dr that tells you to take nsiads or tylnol for the pain in quack!. It hardly helps with serve cronic pain and they rip your stomach to shreds!. I just recently dumped a quack for the same reason now have a time in half gettin another as am unisured and they are expensive!. Your best bet is to find a dr whom has a clue about pain!. And a couple of tips!. Pain clinics are a good place to look!. Also it may be a good idea to talk to some people like at the hospital and dr offices the 1's in charge and let them know what the quack is up to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
