How do you deal with leg cramps?!


Question: How do you deal with leg cramps!?

Make sure you are getting plenty of calcium and potassium and also drink plenty of water!. And also make sure to keep your legs warm!. When I get leg cramps, I just walk it off!. I guess some people massage the area but that doesn't work for me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it is a charley horse type of leg cramp I try to stretch that area until the cramp relaxes!. It also helps to apply heat to the muscle!. Leg cramps can be a sign of something more serious so it is always good to ask your doctor, especially if you have them alot!. It could even be from medication you are taking such as hormones or birth control!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i always have leg cramps before!. a friend told me that leg cramps start when cool air is focused on your legs!. the cool air freezes your muscles making it hard and hurting for you to move!. whenever i encounter this, i usually don't force my legs to move!. instead i let it relax for a bit!. Then slowly massage the area while carefully moving my legs little by little!.

Tip: wear leg-high socks when its cold!. and don't let your legs be directly exposed to the aircon or electric fan!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I usually use pressure points and apply a hot wash rag to exactly where it hurts!. I also rub some Aspercreme Cream along the cramp!. Here are the pressure points; Take your thumb and index finger of whatever hand you use!. Place the thumb under your upper lip from inside the mouth!. Place your index finger on the outside of the upper lip in the middle, between the lip and nose!. Now squeeze that lip between your thumb and finger and hold, until you need to let go, then go back at it!. Or you could take those same phalanges (Thumb and finger) and squeeze between the thumb and index finger(The web) on your other hand, and hold same as above!. If you feel a sore spot on say the right hand web, keep working on that sore spot!. If not, try the other hand and see if there is a sore spot there!. This is also good for headaches, if it hurts where you squeeze, keep squeezing until the hurt goes away!. Leg cramps are usually the result of low potassium in the blood, or they are overworked!. Why don't you try stretching the leg muscles when you lay down for the night before going to sleep!. Lay flat, bend your knees up and back to where you can grab them with yours hands, then pull both legs forward toward your lower stomach area!. Ooo, I get these all the time!. My muscles in my legs twitch like crazy and locks up on me!. Every time I think my muscle is about to rip!. I usualy have to slowly straighten them so it doesn't hurt!.
Usually I have my little handheld massager on hand so I can massage it!. I also have one of those microwavable/freezable hot/cold pack for my sore muscles!. I also use Badger: sore muscle rub for the muscle!. Its a cream fore muscles without the hot/cold sensation of a icy-hot patch!.
My doc also suggested taking a Tums with Calcium!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
