Can 13 year olds have Insomnia?!


Question: Can 13 year olds have Insomnia!?
On friday and sunday night it takes me like 30-45 minutes to fall asleep!. I usually just lay there and look at the clock, and when I can't sleep I get really sad and sometimes I start to cry!. It's really weird because i'm 13 and i'm pretty active!. Is it even possible to be 13 and have Insomnia!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

omg thats what happends to me like every night!!! i cry too and im 13, its alright!. just go lie in bed with ur mom, lol sounds dorky but it makes me less paranoid when i try to sleep!. two nights ago i went on youtube and i put on some relaxing music and it put me right to sleep!. you should go on limewire or itunes or whatever and burn a cd to put on repeat when you are about to go to sleep!. do some yoga breathing and excersizes before bed, and drink chamomile tea!.
you could definately have insomnia though!. it increases with age, but someone who is 13 can have it too!.

talk to your doctor!. i did last time and she told me that i should just talk to my self and close my eyes and say 'now is the time to sleep, there is nothing i can do' if that doesn't really help, and if you have thoughts racing through your mind, like i always do, keep sticky notes next to your bed with a pen or pencil and write whatever you think of so you can remember it in the morning!. that helps me when i can't sleep and i have too many things to remember!.
but as long as you are resting, you are getting rest, almost sleep but not quite!. don't stress about what time it is!. say, well i can just have some caffine in the morning!

maybe you should try taking a benedryl about 30 minutes before going to bed, so you are tired (make sure its the kind of benedryl that will make you tired) and wake up early on friday mornings and sunday mornings, because if you sleep in on those days, you are less tired at night until later than usual!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try releasing a lot of energy in the afternoon, through a sport and dont drink coffee or energy drinks no need at your age!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, you can have insomnia at any age!.

I don't know if it will help you but try to establish a bedtime routine!.!.!. don't drink caffeine or eat sugar within 4 hours of going to bed, don't watch tv or be online right before you go to bed!. Take a nice hot bath and then read or listen to calming music!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
