Should I go the the Dr. or ER?!

Question: Should I go the the Dr!. or ER!?
I smashed my big toe on my left foot when a 50-60 lb piece of concrete rolled on it!. (long story) But its been 5 days now and its really swollen and purple!. Its seems to get bigger each day and the nail is pulling away because of the swelling and its constantly throbbing!. I know that they usually dont do anything at the ER or Dr!. but should I go anyways just to have it checked out!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, because you could have a fracture and or an infection that could get into the bone and be more serious!. As far as toes go, the big toe is different because obviously it's bigger but more importantly, we rely on it for our balance and proper gait!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you should!. At the least they could do xrays to find out if it is broken, and perhaps give you some pain meds to help if it is!. In the meantime, you could try ice and elevation for the pain and swelling!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you ought to go ASAP!. It might get infected and you could lose the toe!. The least that happens is that they give you some pain medication so you can sleep and send you on your way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah, just to see!. You might have a 'fever' or infection in there causing the swelling to be so bad, and they could give you some medicine for the pain that works better than OTC pain relievers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds very similar to my mums toe!. She is diabetic and has no feeling in her feet, one day she noticed her middle toe swollen and turned black!. Because she didn't notice any injury, the doctors thought it was an infection!. After being drilled with antibiotics and countless trips to the Hospital, it was found, after an xray was taken, that she had a crushed toe which had healed by itself!.

My advice is get an x-ray ASAPWww@Answer-Health@Com

don't got to the ER, make an appointment with you dr!. this week!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
