Low hemoglobin with no fatigue??!

Question: Low hemoglobin with no fatigue!?!?
I brought my 4 year old to the doctor today for a well check!. They did a finger-prick blood test to do a lead screening and check his hemoglobin!. The hemoglobin came back very low (8!.3 and doc said it should be around 12)!. However, he said the finger-prick isn't very accurate and he is almost positive it was a invalid result!. He ordered a full blood test that I took him to this afternoon and will get results tomorrow!.!.!.but that doesn't stop my worrying!.

My doctor, the nurse doing the full blood test and myself all think that if it was a true reading my son would be very fatigued and lethargic!.!.!.but that is not the case!. He is a very energetic kid!.!.!.even after the blood test today we went to the park where he ran and played for 1!.5 hours!.!.!.then went to McDonalds and he played there!.!.!.we are now home and he is still going!.!.!.I never see him ever get tired!.

They also both said the finger-prick isn't very good for testing blood counts!.

So, I'm still worried and just wanted to hear what others think!. Do you think because of his activity level the test was probably invalid and the full blood test will show a more normal result!? I guess what I want to know is can your hemoglobin ever be that low without also having the fatigue and tiredness that usually goes with it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It is true the only way to obtain an accurate reading is to draw blood from the artery!. IT is there that the life support system is in full operation!. Blood from the finger is a limited test!. It sounds like the lad has a normal pattern and has a good eating habit!. It also appears the energy from the intake is properly processing in is body!. He sounds healthy!. Waiting on a complete report and waste no more time with worry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
