Knee Effusion question?!

Question: Knee Effusion question!?
About 6 months ago I had an MRI done on my knee and it showed that I had knee effusion!. I didn't have surgery on it, but I did have a few months of physical therapy (taping, exercises etc!.) Now I have been able to run if it is taped, but it still hurts sometimes after I run or if i'm walking around without it taped!. Is this something that will go away over time at all!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The knee effusion itself, should be gone by now!. However, the type of knee problem you have is something that is chronic and often difficult to get rid of!. Patellar taping is an excellent adjunct to strengthening exercises, but should never be used in place of it!. You also need to remember that the adhesive in the tape does break down, so it is really only effective for about 30-40 minutes!. It also does not change the position of your knee cap, but serves as a tactile reminder to properly use your muscles!.

Have you tried a patellar tracking brace at all!? Based on your reliance on the tape, I think the brace may help you quite a bit, and save your skin from all the adhesives!.

Since your knee is still not right after 6 months, you may need to return to your orthopedic surgeon and find out what other options you may have!. In the end, you need to figure out how much this is effecting your life!. You may want to consider an exploratory arthroscopy, it this is greatly affecting your life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Knee effusion is where you have leakage of fluid from the knee capsule!. The treatment is usually to 'drain' a small amount of fluid off the knee and inject some anesthetic!. Otherwise the fluid stays where it is!. Best of LuckWww@Answer-Health@Com
