I quit my job and lost my insurance because of it. I need help with my medicatio!

Question: I quit my job and lost my insurance because of it!. I need help with my medication now!.!?
I really tore my back up while racing my dirt bike when I was 19!. I know have a degenerative disk between my L5 and S1 and bulging discs above that!. It causes me chronic pain and it usually is pretty extreme!. In the last few days the pain is so intense that my toes seem numb and I can barely walk for longer than a few minutes!. This is more intense than it ever has been!.

I was taking oxycontin for two years and quit taking it a little over a month ago because I can't affor it any longer ($600 a month for what I was taking)!.

Is there an inexpensive extended release medication out there!? He prescribed me oxycodone 5mg @ 6 a day last week and it doesn't help!. I think my tolerance is still up from taking the oxycontin so long and I can literally take 6 of them at a time let alone a day without them giving me comfort!.

I need an extended release and something that will work, but I need it to be affordable!. Can anyone help me!!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could go through Social Security and file papers for disability due to chronic constant daily pain which keeps you from performing normal tasks!.

Then go to Social Services in your county!. As long as you have filed a disability claim, and as long as the claim is active, you cannot be denied help for your medications!.

The process of filing for disability is normally 3 years since it is a common practise for them to deny your claim the first few times causing you to appeal and move on to the next step!. You may find a lawyers assistance helpful!. There are many who will not charge anything unless you collect from Social Security Disability!.

If you have any military experience, you will qualify for 'partial' disability benefits!.

I don't know anything about oxycodone!. The best pain reliever I have been prescribed is Vicodin!. I've used it for pain since I had three disks replaced and four vertebrae fused in my neck!. And my wife uses it since she had an operation for bulging disks in her lower back!. They are fast acting and can be combined with over the counter Tylenol for an extra boost when you expect to be more physically active!. You can take two pills at bedtime to help you sleep!.

First, I would check out some help from county Social Services!. They may be able to at least get you some temporary help in case you are considering surgery!.

Best of luck!. QiWww@Answer-Health@Com

Besides the medication, you should probably go get a MRI, if your toes are numb and you are in extreme pain, I can almost promise you that either an existing bulging disc or a new bulging or herniated disc has compromised your Sciatic nerve and if you think you are in pain now!.!.!.!.!.if that stays that way I can tell you from experience that you will or I should say may end up with permanent nerve damage!. Trust me, you don't want you Sciatic Nerve damaged for a long period of time!. My life is pretty much over, just because of that!.

Anyway, about your medication, long term you are better off with Methadone!. I know you have probably heard all of the horror stories, but i assure you that you probably haven't heard it from someone who uses it for back and spine pain!.
However, just like the other things you have taken, it is addictive and if you ever can come off of medication you will withdrawal and as you must know, its not fun!. Methadone is also a lot less expensive!. A LOT!!
You might discuss it with your doctor or Pain Management Group and see what they think!.
Good Luck, I hope you feel better soon!Www@Answer-Health@Com

methadone helped me!. it is inexpensive too!. But i got off of it after 4 yrs!. of taking it!. I think the side effects i had were really tired and it was effecting my teeth"i think" but, a pain management doctor would assist you with the medicine and follow how you do with it!. Methadone in a pill form!. Not the clinic for methadone treatments, thats for people who have a addictions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
