Fractured thumb?!
Question: Fractured thumb!?
today at softaball practice a line drive hit me in my right (bear) hand!. it turned purple and got pretty swollen at the base of my thumb, i put ice on it and the swelling went down, but its still really purple and hurts to the touch!. about an hour ago i noticed it started hurting and turning purple on the side too!. i can move it, it doesnt hurt unless its touching something!. do you think its fractured!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like it is just bruised badly!. You did the right thing by applying the ice, but you should keep that up!. One applying is not enough!. Any time you injure something and it begins to swell, ice is used on it for the first twenty four hours!. Twenty minutes on, twenty off!. After that, moist heat or soaking the hand in hot water mixed with Epsom's Salt!. Read directions on the bag!. Did you try catching the ball in your right bare hand, or was you hit on the top of the hand!? The purple you are seeing is blood and the body will eventually absorb it!. You might want to get an x-ray if this continues with no sign of getting better!. The thumb may have been knocked out of place for a split second, or it stayed out of place!. X-ray only way to tell!. to me that sounds fractured!. when you fracture your thumb, they put it in a cast!. you should get it x-rayed and see what your doctor thinks, but from the sounds of your injury!.!. its most likely fractured!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It does not seem to be fractured!. The joint has become stiff!. Rub some oral medicin daily and apply tape so that joint may not move!. In 3 days, it will be ok!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
