Question: Is it fractured!?!?!?!? (mostly doctors or nurses please)!?
so today i slammed the car door on my thumb and it swelled up, bled, and bruised immediately!. i iced it for two hours and it still was swollen!.!.!.!. it has been at least 6 hours since it happened and it is still swollen!. it hurts bad even wen i dont move it and it hurts wen i do move it!.!.!.!.i can barley move it cuz of the swelling and i think its fractured!.!.!. but my mom wants to wait a few days before going to the doc!.!.!.!.!. what should i do!.!.!. is it broken or fractured!?!?!?!?!?!? please help me!

You need an x-ray to tell you if it is broken!. Many people wait a day or so to see if the area improves!. Keep it elevated and use ice!. The swelling will decrease if you elevate the hand!. FYI broken and fractured are the same thing!. If a bone is fractured it is broken!. The condition that means it is only bruised is called a contussion!. Good luck cbgWww@Answer-Health@Com

If i were you i would wait at least a day then if the swelling doesnt go down you should go to the doctors i hade many broken fingers and there really is nothing you could do for them except put a splint on it so unless it hurts really bad your better of just taking some advil and icing it for a while!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
