Okay my toes has been infected from me cutting my nail too long on accident about 2 weeks ago!. Its ALOT better then it was in the beggining!. I have an appt w a podiostrist but I cant get in for a few more weeks!. Until then is there anything I can do to make the swelling and redness go down!?!? or even clear it up so I dont hv to go!?!?!?

Its not that bad its just a little red and puffy no puss!. My mom looked at it, and saw that the nail that was wayy cut down there is not growing in towards my skin its just way down there!. So could my nail just be sore because the nail on one part is sooo short!? Its growing, but sloooowwly, and up not in!. Theres no pus, bleeding, and sometimes if one of my dogs step on it it hurts a tiny otherwise it itches!. I just dont know whats wrong w it!. Any help would be grateful!. Thanks!

Ive been soaking it!. And I put peroxide and neosporin & a bandaid on it about 2x a day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
What you are doing is probably adequate for the inflammation!. Keep it clean and antibioticized!.

To prevent toenails from ingrowing at the sides, take a nail file or emery board and file across the center of the nail to make it slightly thinner in the center - all the way down the length of the nail!. This will prevent the nail from curling in at the sides!. It works - but a caution - don't make it too thin!.

BTW - itching is a sign that it is healing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try getting some epsom salt, you can find this at like walmart or a local pharmacy!. Mix the salt into hot hot water, not so hot that you cant stand it, but hot enough!.Soak it for about 15-20 minutes and then immediately put ice on it!. That should reduce the swelling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
