i have that problem, TMJ, mine is caused by too much caffeine!.it can also be caused by:whiplash, stress, Bruxism--

Bruxism is the abnormal grinding of the teeth!. If grinding continues, TMJ may develop!. Bruxism usually occurs during sleep!. That is why so many people do not realize that they are bruxers!. One indication that a person is a bruxer is sore jaw muscles when waking in the morning!. Some researchers feel that the constant grinding of the teeth causing pressure on the TMJ may injure the ligaments, thus allowing for the disc to dislocate!. At the very least, bruxism produces muscle pain, sensitive and worn teeth!.

yup I'd go see your dentist thoughWww@Answer-Health@Com

Often, symptoms like what you are describing are a result of a condition called Temporomandibular joint disorder, or commonly referred to as TMJ!. (Ear pain is also another symptom of TMJ, occasionally)
TMJ is a term that refers to acute or chronic inflammation of the temporomandibular joint, the joint that connects the lower jaw to the skull!.
I highly suggest that you consult your dentist or orthodontist immediately before your condition progresses!. Sometimes TMJ will require medication or surgery, but can often be cured by a change in jaw-movement habits!. (i!.e!. stop: teeth grinding, lip or cheek biting, excessive gum chewing, putting excessive strain on your jaw muscles; also, it can also sometimes be cured by repositioning the lower jaw in an edge-to-edge bite)
I do not believe that you playing the flute has anything to do with your jaw pains!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

holy cow! i have the exact samething and i play the flute [probably has no affect]!.
my jaw keeps poping and hurting a lot!. when i open my mouth wide [like trying to bite into an apple] it feels like im over stretching it, like stretching a rubber band too far!. Sometimes in the morning i cant quite open it that far!. and in some cases i could barely open my mouth!.

to help with the pain, i just massage the joint area!. it helps me
hope it helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had my job beginning to pop allot I havnt figured out why though so ur guess is as good as mine sorry I have read though to put your fingers right beneath your ears where the jaw is and try massaging and opening and closing to take away some of the pain sorry i cant help that wellWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have the same problem!. Except it's been happening to me for about a year or more!. I don't know how to explain it, so I havnt really told anyone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sounds like TMJ!. did you have braces!? You should see a dentist so they can help you!. I believe the popping is the gland sliding out from between the mandible and maxilla making them collide!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try to drink some warm water and force your mouth to keep it close!. That might help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yea i have that, its tmd or lockjaw, look it up online and see if thats fit and make a dentist appointmentWww@Answer-Health@Com
