its amazing the things that can cause back pain!. doesn't have to be anything more then the way you turn your head sometimes!. I pinched a nerve by tilting my head up for 20 min!. didn't notice until the next day!. try ice for twenty minutes on then 20 minutes off!. Biofreeze is also a good topical to use on muscle pain!. Walmart carries it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sometimes pain in the area you describe can be caused by gallbladder problems!.

This is called "referred pain"; it happens when pain occurs in an area separate from the problem area!. Your spinal nerves innervate (attach to) certain organs, but the same nerves can also innervate other areas!. So pain in one organ will cause pain elsewhere in the body!.

This image is not very good, but you can see that shoulder blade pain can be related to the gallbladder!. http://theuplink!.com/Guides/Visceral%20R!.!.!.

This of course may not be your problem! You may simply have a nerve or muscle injury!. However, if the discomfort continues and if you begin having other symptoms, you may want to read about cholecystitis http://www!.mayoclinic!.com/health/gallsto!.!.!. and talk to your physician!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you've had this pain for the past 3 days why would you play basketball only to irritate the pain & injury more!?
Good temporary relief would be hot pads!. Lay it across your neck & shoulder and have another on your back as you are LYING DOWN! The cause!?!.!.!.!.do you play basketball every day!? Have you pulled a muscle while playing!? A pulled muscle can put you in a lot of pain; hope you didn't herniate a disc in your back!.
Tylenol ES will help until you go see a Doctor ASAP! When the body is in pain for more than 3 days !.!.!.!.!.it's telling you that something is wrong!. Please go to the Dr!. soon and if the pain gets too bad then go to the Emergency Room! Take care of you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
