Are girdles bad for you?!

Question: Are girdles bad for you!?
I've been wearing something like a back brace lately, which has been mainly due to me having poor posture!. I tend to get a really bad back, and my breathing, posture and 'carriage' of myself have improved, but when I am wearing it, my breathing is so constricted, and I'm sure that it is doing something to insides (rib cage)!. It's expandable when I breath, so technically, I'm probably just over thinking things!. I also don't hold my head high properly, so I'm going to get an aid for that because I have sore shoulders in the morning because of silly back and neck problems!. It's where all my tension is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In today's paper was a supplement, with the screaming headline 'Executive Arthritis!' I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so was wanting to read as with over 100 different types of Arthritis, Executive was a new one on me!. It basically states that today we spend X amount of time in bed, X amount sitting in a chair eating our breakfast, X amount in a chair driving to work, X amount sitting at the desk, PC, X amount in the car on the way home, X sitting for our dinner, X sitting watching the TV, then back to bed!. If we are lucky to have Gym Memberships, guess what, we spend X amount sitting on various machines at the Gym!. The problem being our corset, the muscles around our abdomen and back, the muscle that are their to do small things like: hold the spine in place, keep us erect, help our breathing, help our digestion!. help our circulation are wasting away and so we are falling foul to small problems like back pain and arthritis at a earlier age!. Therefore fitness instructors, osteopaths, and physiotherapists have now united in stressing the importance of 'core strength' and stability, Pilate's! Statistics show that almost 80% of people will have back pain at some point!. Therefore throw the girdle away and concentrate on the girdle you were born with the muscles in your abdomen!. See if you can locate a Pilate's Class in your area and go to it!. Best of LuckWww@Answer-Health@Com

if it is a back brace it shouldn't be that tight!. but yes girdles are bad for you!. they constrict your airway and put pressure on your ribs which can lead to them cracking and what not!. just loosen it up a bit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wearing a brace is not the answer!. You are making your muscles weaker by wearing the brace!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No its fine - they are also called corsets and over history people have worn them for many years even really tight to the point their waste lines become permanantly smaller - the most famous person and the person who had the smallest waste line in history was Ethel Granger who died of old age at 80 something she had a 13 inch waste - she was autopsied and found that although her organs had moved up it didnt cause her death she died of natural causes - she was an extreme case in that she wore hers tighter and tighter in order to get a tiny waste line - but my point is that wearing one that expands is not physically hurting you so you probably are over thinking it but if it is making breathing more uncomfortable then you might want to see a Dr about an alternative - there are back braces that arent actual corsets or girdlesWww@Answer-Health@Com
