Can you take pain killers when taking Anti-bio-tics such as Amoxicillin?!

Question: Can you take pain killers when taking Anti-bio-tics such as Amoxicillin!?
My friend has chronic ear ache and apparently he has broken his ear drum!!! He was prescribed Amoxicillin by his doctor, but told to avoid pain killers, however, he is in so much pain i wondered what the harm would be to take pain killers!?!?!? I had tooth ache couple of weeks ago and I was prescribed the same anti-biotics and a strong pain killer by my dentist called 'Dihydrocodeine', so I wondered why he has been advised not to take painkillers whilst on the anti-biotics and whether there was a pain-killer that he coud take to relief his discomfort plesae!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am not aware of any such advice and I've been in the profession for donkeys! Unless there's another reason for this advise, your friend can take pain killers!. Remember NSAIDs eg Ibuprofen, voltarol must be taken with food and to be avoided if he is asthmatic or has a stomach ulcer!. Depending on the degree of perforation, the ear drum can heal completely!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can see no valid reason why any doctor would tell someone in pain to avoid painkillers!. There are certainly no interactions between the antibiotic amoxicillin and analgesics or NSAIDS like ibuprofen!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It would'nt be appropriate to give medical advise - I would suggest your friend asks to see a different doctor for a qualified opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

amoxillcillian is a very mild antibiotic, of corse he can take pain killers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes, normally not a problem, but might irritate the stomach if taken at the same time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
