just a random question ive been thinking about all day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I think, k_t is half right!. The pinky finger is short to allow a sealed grip on an item, whether it is held straight or at an angle!. Think about how a broom fits in your hand and how it adjust when the pole of the device is moved back and forth!. It provides an anchor and a seal to the grip!. If it were as long as the other finger, it would have to slip over or under your other fingers to make the movements!.

However, I have to disagree with him on his statement on it being a victim of evolution!. First, its shape, as I discussed above, serves an important purpose, so it would not be done away with!. Second, if your pinky finger goes away, then your ring finger would then have to shorten to take on the tasks the previous finger had handled!.

If you want to really see how much your shortened finger does, try practicing some daily functions without your pinky finger and see how your hand feels!. It should lead to a better appreciation of that stumpy little guy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

chances are there short 1 as there at the end of our hands and would be awkward to close your hand if they were bigger and 2 we dont use them for much so evolution states eventually we wont have themWww@Answer-Health@Com

the pinky is used mainly to pick your nose!.!.!.!.it is so short so while picking your nose you wont be able to accidently damage your brain!.!.!.!.!.so i've been toldWww@Answer-Health@Com

the 5th digit is incredibly useful in grasping objects!. if it was longer, things would slide out of our hands easier!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
