Question: How to apply a fiberglass cast!?
Im in a special group at my school, for medics in training, and next week were practicing making casts!. I usually know a lot about what were doing ahead of time, but I dont know anyone who has ever broken a bone!. We have to make casts on each other for our final project, one short leg and one short arm are what Im doing!. Can anyone pretty much walk me through what I will have to do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The key to casting is 1!. to pad the limb well so the cast does not rub, 2!. not to put it on too tight (1 finger should fit between cast & skin), 3!. to make the overlaps of casting material about 1/3 or the previous wrap!. 4!. Know the land marks that dictate where you STOP casting (no cast material beyond that area) (like the fibula head and the metatarsal area on leg )!. 5!. finish edges of cast with stockinette so there are no rough edges to hurt patient!.
