Some numbness, swelling and tenderness is normal!.!.!.let's face it!.!.!.you had a metal rod jammed through a muscle!. :) Watch carefully for signs of infection: heat, redness, excessive swelling, fever, puss, etc!. If any of these symptoms appear, head to the Dr or "urgent care" to get it taken care of ASAP!. You can expect some discomfort!.!.!.the severity depends on your pain tolerance!.!.!. for at least a week!. If it gets infected good enough, they could mutate the tip of your tounge!.
i saw one guy on the internet, he lost his jaw becuase the infection spread from his tounge to his jaw!.

They could have pierced the wrong area, meaning that you will stay numb there forever&possibly lose any sense of taste!.
