Burns aftercare?!

Question: Burns aftercare!?
does the application of cold water or ice actually help with the healing process or is it simply a way to reduce pain and discomfort!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The application of cold water actually does 2 things!.
It stops the burn from continuing to burn through your flesh!.
It also decreases pain, by stopping the burning process!.

As long as the water is run over the burn long enough!. 15 minutes is the usual minimum BUT if it is still burning, carry on with the water!.
So it helps the healing process by stopping further damage to the skin!.

As for burn care, the use of Aloe Vera is the best thing OR a SPECIFICALLY made burn cream!.
NEVER use OILS, BUTTER (an old one) or OTHER creams!.
These will only go on the hot burn and cook! Literally!.

If it is a large raw burn!. Apply the Aloe or cream and dressing with a NON STCK dressing!. To keep clean and free from infection!. Until it starts to heal and feel better!.
Keep an eye out for signs of infection!.

PS!. We DON'T have 7 layers of skin!. Only 2!. The dermis, top layer of skin!. And epidermis, the under layer!. Then comes nerves, veins, fat, bones etc!. in the subcutanous layer!.
So if it is only red from a burn, it is 1st degree!. So only the dermis is burned!.
If it is blistered it is a 2nd degree burn!. So both the dermis and epidermis is burnt!.
If it is red, blistered AND black then it is a 3rd degree burn!. Think 1st, 2nd and 3rd layer of skin!.

Depending on the area burnt, how much of the area and what degree to if you should seek medical care!.
If it is a 3rd degree burn then you NEED TO SEE a Doctor!.

cold water or ice applied for at least 20 mins!. actullally helps with the discomfort and the burn will heal slowly after all you do have 7 layers of skin, Keep it covered with a bandage so it won't get infected!. and it can heal properly If is a severe burn you can ask your Dr!. or pharmary for an ointment to apply to the bandage!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
