I started to run a few days ago...?!

Question: I started to run a few days ago!.!.!.!?
I started to run (now that the weather is decent) on Friday and my legs are still stinging!. I stretched before and after I ran!. What can I do differently to prevent sore muscles!? Could it be because I'm not hydrating myself enough!? I do drink water and I excersize on a regular basis so its not new to me!. Is it just because its a new excersize!? I'm confused!. Thanks for your answers in advance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it is most likely because it is a new exercise using different muscles that have to be conditioned!. I have even had this happen when I have been cycling for hundreds of miles, but when I start running it uses a different set of muscles and I will get soreness for a few days!. You may try some cal-mag tablets and protein after running to help and of course, keep stretching!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You muscles aren't used to it

You want to build it up slowly, aka for a week run for a thirty seconds, walk for two!.

Then the following week run for 45 seconds, walk for 1 minute 45 seconds!. seconds!.

Build it up that way, as you won't over tire yourself and it should be easier to get your muscles used to the movements!.

Take water with you, and take sips whilst in your walking stage!. Don't glup it down, it'll make you feel so much worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Using your muscles in a way unfamiliar to them could still lead them to be sore even if you're a frequent exerciser!. Also, during your workouts you may not be working the muscles involved in running!. But to try to give you a better idea of what could be happening I'd need to know where exactly the pain is!. Generalized pain could be caused by what I've already mentioned, improper running form (everyone thinks theirs is fine but you'd be surprised by what very small imperfections can do), improper footwear (really can't stress the importance of proper footwear enough), soft tissue issues, overexertion, and probably a million other things I can't come up with off the top of my head!. Dull aching pain in you thighs is probably lactic acid accumulation and the soreness will decrease as your energy systems gain more efficiency!. If its just on the front of your shins about halfway between your knees and ankles then it could be shin splints!. It's just overuse of the muscles on the front of your lower leg and you should probably continue stretching, ice those legs, and give them a little bit of a rest!. If you don't think it's any of the aforementioned then maybe you're developing a stress fracture!. Hope all this helps, good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its just because you arent used to it!. Completely expected and understandable!. It will quickly go away if you keep at it, the first time is the worst by far!. Keep at it!Www@Answer-Health@Com
