The purpose of stitches is to close the skin!.!.!. it helps to stop bleeding!. If she's already scabbed up and stopped bleeding, she doesn't need them!. The best thing to do at this point is to get those strips that hold skin together, just to make sure she doesn't rip the scab open again!.

If she IS still bleeding then she should definitely go in to an er and get stitches!. I can't tell you how much it will cost, but if she tells them she doesn't have insurance and talks to the clinic's financial people, they can help her find out about different programs that may alleviate or even cover the cost of the procedure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

typically you have about an 8 hour window to receive sutures for a laceration!. After that 8 hour window, the tissue will have begun to heal and suture the tissue becomes more difficult, as the injured tissue surrounding the laceration becomes necrotic (dead) and will eventually be shed!. (thus making suturing more difficult because that is the tissue they will want to approximate)

Also, if the cut was not serious enough to be noticed until this morning, chances are, it does not need to be sutured!. If it has stopped bleeding already, then your friend's leg will be okay!. There will be a larger, less esthetically pleasing scar, but as long as it has stopped bleeding, there is no arterial bleeding that would need at least sutures to repair!.

Be sure your friend keeps the area clean and dry, and watch for signs of infection!. (heat, swelling, pain, redness, coloured discharge from wound)

If there are signs of infection, your friend will need to see a doctor for a prescription of antibiotics!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't imagine its ever "too late" for stitches!. If she doesn't have insurance there are walk-ins that help people!. If its not still bleeding and not that bad of a cut, then she probably would be fine keeping it very clean, and using hydrogen peroxide to disinfect it, etc!. If she notices is getting very painful and red and pussy, its infected, and she'll need to go to an emergency room right away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you really only need stitches if the cut doesn't stop bleeding!. if she just noticed it this morning odds are she doesn't need them!. if she's that concerned she can use super glue!. no seriously, i work for a construction company and every time one of our guys needs stitches we go to the clinic and they use regular super glue but you have to sanitize the cut first so you're not locking in any germs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

stitches need to be done within 24 hours to help!. If the cuts are deep or if they will not stop bleeding!.!.!.stitches might be necessary!. If the wound is large it will still heal!.!.!.maybe just a little slower and leave a larger scar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

she needs to go today and get them if needed!. sticthes are required within 24 hrs of the accident, however how did she not notice it!? a cut that requires sticthes would hurt like hell!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you go to the doctors then it shouldnt cost alot, and only get stitches if the wound is really bigWww@Answer-Health@Com
