Sleeping in class- something wrong?!


Question: Sleeping in class- something wrong!?
im a 14 year old girl, i go to high school and im always falling asleep in class-almost everyday
i sleep at arnd 10:30 usually and wake up at around 7 so thats 81/2 hrs!.
my eyelids usually get heavier and heavier and then i close them fully and dream about something random for 5 seconds and then jerk awake!.
If im sleeping with my head on the desk, i dnt hear anything around me and when i wake up, it feels like ive been sleeping for an hour but ive only been sleeping for five mins!.
i also sleep on the floor of the classroom with my friends if the teacher doesnt care what we do and i can fall asleep really quickly- haha i even drool
and by the end of the school week, im totally smashed: as soon as i get home, i sleep from about 5:00pm to the next morning!.
is there something wrong with me!? im really healthy and fit- im worried coz i find i dnt have enough time to do hwk and other stuff because im sleeping!. i have big eye bags and i cnt breathe and get snappy when im sleepy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

get a sleep study done, you may have sleep apnea!.
If you have Narcolepsy, there are meds available!.

I slept though almost all my lectures in school, despite having a crew to keep me awake!.

This sounds very strange!. I know I used to sleep during class but only because I found them pretty boring (since they were usually too easy for me) and because I was hearing-impaired and learned by textbooks!.

But you sound like you can sleep at your own will and you sleep from 5 p!.m!. to the morning sometimes!? Wow!. This does sound like a problem!. And I think part of the problem is you are not eating enough, you are not consuming enough for your body to convert into energy to keep you awake!.

You say you are "healthy" and "fit" !.!.!. does that translate to way too thin!? There are very young girls that think they are healthy but are in fact way too thin and not eating correctly!. They always look like they are tired and have bags under their eyes!.

If this is the case for you!. You need to get some help!. If it is not your case, you need to see a doctor - maybe you need some medicine to sort out some sort of imbalance in your body chemicals!.

maybe u are not eating the right things or eating annofe!. my mum allays makes me eat beck fest so i wake up try that!.

or the lessons are boring that mite be why you are fulling asleep!. there nothing rouge with u it's just your a bit sleepy maybe yr a vampire and they sleep in the day just to cheek are u hungry all the time if not yr not one!.

but you mite not b even if you are hungry all the time it mite be that you are a teenager and we all get tiered i am 17 and i used to full asleep in lesson all the time just if it keeps on bothering you tel yr mum and dad and make them take u to a doctor!.

Different People have different sleep patterns!. About the whole sleeping in class thing, the average human has an attention span of 7 min!. anything after that, your brain begins to conserve and does allow you to focus, which leads to sleep!. On the other hand it wouldn't be bad to have it check out with your doctor you have many of the signs of "Sleep Apnea", which is a serious condition and also includes the following (not all have to apply for it to be serious)!.!.!.!.!.!.
loud snoring
morning headaches
unrefreshing sleep
a dry mouth upon awakening
chest retraction during sleep in young children (chest pulls in)
high blood pressure
overweight
irritability
change in personality
depression
difficulty concentrating
excessive perspiring during sleep
heartburn
reduced libido
insomnia
frequent nocturnal urination (nocturia)
restless sleep
nocturnal snorting, gasping, choking (may wake self up)
rapid weight gain
confusion upon awakening

i fall asleep in class all the time, but if ur falling asleep at 5:00, theres definitely something wrong!. staying up late for a week in a row WILL fix your sleeping pattern!.

try staying awake by doing exciting things, a good idea, if u dont mind getting in a bit of trouble, is to get a large group of friends together and pull pranks on teachers at early hours of the morning!. the rush and excitement will keep you awake, until you go home, where you will probably stay up another half an hr before dozing off!.

when you wake up in the morning, you will notice you're completely energised, keep this up until it becomes natural to fall asleep later!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
